Aegis Living Callahan House (Shoreline, WA)

Callahan House is designed specifically for residents with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Divided into four smaller living areas—each with its own dedicated team, dining room, common area, and courtyard—residents receive individualized care and one-on-one attention. Our highly trained team members are confident in caring for residents with memory loss, whether newly diagnosed or in the later stages, and every step along the way. Our Memory Care program is designed to help ease the symptoms of dementia and to celebrate the life of the individual.

We also offer on-campus support groups run by accredited family therapists for our residents’ families. Over the years, Aegis Living has not only cared for Memory Care residents, but also supported and educated thousands of families through the journey. Here you will feel the comfort of a friendly community with 24-hour support.

We feel really lucky to have found Aegis at Callahan House. We love that it is its own cozier, quieter building devoted to Memory Care…All of the staff are so good at caring for residents with dementia, and every staff member I’ve met is warm-hearted, calm and competent, kind and amazingly patient…Mom especially loves sitting by either of the two fireplaces, or to sit out on the pretty garden patio when the weather is warm, or to join the daily ‘walking club’ over to the beautiful park across the street. Our family has also been happy with the great variety of activities, especially those with the professional art and music therapists on staff, performances by musicians who come in several times a week to entertain the residents, and the scenic bus rides once or twice a week.

Our mom is frail in both mind and body, and two years ago she was going downhill pretty fast. Since settling in at Callahan House, she’s been much more stable, lively, has her sense of humor again. She is well-taken care of, and we’re very grateful for the peace of mind that having her at Callahan House gives us.

One year ago [my mother] transitioned to Callahan House after a short stay at Aegis of Shoreline…My family is grateful to the staff at Callahan House for caring for her. When she moved in she was able to have her dog Beanie with her, which was huge in helping her transition to the new environment. While eventually we had to keep Beanie at our home the staff always was welcoming when we would arrive with Beanie for visits.

The activities were the centerpiece of [my mother’s] life at Callahan. Seeing my mother engaged with a group in exercise class, arts and crafts, or a live concert meant so much to me and her. The staff always made the effort to include her in the activities. The staff were wonderful in her care and it is a testament to the entire staff that after a stay in a hospital we were relieved to get her back to Callahan House in hospice care, in a familiar setting with a staff that truly knew and cared for her…My thanks go out to the staff at Callahan House including concierges, nurses, activity directors, care directors, managers, med techs, general care, facilities, and kitchen staff for the caring environment they created at Callahan House to support all the residents on this difficult phase of their lives.

Aegis Living at Callahan House has been an incredibly supportive environment for our mother. The staff is so personable and sincerely cares about the wellbeing of each resident, even in some of the most difficult situations. Everyone, from the direct care-givers, to the activities staff, to the concierge, to the support staff, and the management, is so attentive.
