Things to Consider Before Your Visit
Discussing what your top priorities are for your future home and what your goals are for care and socialization will help us customize the tour to focus on what’s most important to you. This will also help you to come prepared with questions you may have for us when you visit.
Here are some things you might consider when visiting Aegis and other senior living communities:
- Building and Grounds – Do you like the architecture and design aesthetic? Are the common and living spaces and grounds clean and well-maintained? Does it seem secure
- Residents – What types of people live here and what are they like? Do they seem happy? Do they seem like people I could be friends with?
- Activities – Do they offer activities I’m interested in? Is there a wide variety? Do they have a holistic emphasis on wellness? Do these activities seem like a good way to make friends and stay physically active?
- Food/Dining – Does the menu look interesting to me? Is there enough variety? Do they accommodate special diets? Are people interacting with each other during meals?
- Care – Are the care team members friendly? What type of training do they receive? How many hours of nursing care is staffed daily in the community? What is the turnover rate? Does my loved one need memory care?
- Cost – What is realistic for me financially? How should I budget for this transition?

What to Expect During Your Aegis Tour
You have probably already spoken with your Aegis Marketing Director before your visit. They will greet you when you arrive and be your knowledgeable tour guide. Before they show you around our beautiful community, they will sit down with you and have a conversation about your needs and priorities to understand what matters most to you and your family. This will ensure you’re seeing all the areas of the community that you care to see.
The tour is meant to give you a glimpse into what a day in the life at Aegis looks like. One thing that differentiates Aegis from other senior living companies is the caliber of our team members. Ours is an extremely competent team that has a passion and expertise for caring for an aging population and complex diseases. This tour is not only a great opportunity for you to see the community, but also to get a feel for the people who work here. Tours typically last an hour to an hour and a half, which includes time to look at available units and answer any questions you may have.
Here’s an overview of what you’ll experience on your tour of Aegis:
- Walk through common spaces for community living.
- Visit areas of the community that are relevant to your interests.
- Observe some of our diverse Life Enrichment activities.
- Stroll around the grounds and see outdoor community living spaces.
- Look at available apartments that are aligned with what you’re looking for.
- Meet our team members, our most important assets. You may chat with people on our care team or our Life Enrichment (Activities) Director.
- If you or your family member are considering memory care, we’ll show you around “Life’s Neighborhood,” the dedicated, secure Memory Care section of our building.
- You and your guests are welcome to experience our amazing food and enjoy a complimentary meal during your visit.
After Your Tour
Once you’ve toured the community, you and the Marketing Director will sit down again to address any questions or concerns you have and review costs and financial options. If you’ve fallen in love with one of our apartments, we can coordinate your move as soon as 48 hours to a week after you commit. We’ll assist you with completing the necessary paperwork and strive to make this process as streamlined as possible.
We understand this is a significant decision and you may need to pause and reflect. Perhaps you have other senior living options to visit or need to figure out your finances before you choose your new home. You’ll go home with resources to review and compare with other communities.
The most important advice we can give to you as you visit different communities and consider your options is “How did I feel here?”
We are here to answer any follow-up questions you have and may reach out to provide you with helpful resources after your visit. We recognize that considering this change can be overwhelming, emotional, and complex. With over 25 years of industry experience, we prioritize each family and their unique concerns. Care is a partnership, and we hope to have your trust for your future needs.

Aegis Living Difference
CEO and founder, Dwayne Clark, built Aegis Living with the determination of creating an alternative to the current senior housing options available. With more than 35 senior housing communities and growing, he has set new standards in the senior housing industry. Dwayne realized there was a better way to care for and serve our aging population. While working his way up in the assisted living industry as a young professional, he kept a box of dreams, ideas, and innovations that would later form the foundation of Aegis Living. Today, each community has a similar “black box” to collect these ideas from our staff and continue to revolutionize the senior housing industry.
