Frequently Asked Questions

Having worked with thousands of families and residents over the last two decades, these are some of the most common questions asked:
End-of-Life Care refers to the comprehensive support and medical treatment provided to individuals in the final stages of a terminal illness or nearing the end of their life. Care includes pain management, symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support, and assistance with the activities of daily living (ADLs).
Pain management and symptom control are important parts of End-of-Life Care for the comfort of the resident. Our care team and hospice provider can utilize various approaches, including medication, physical therapy, relaxation techniques, and counseling to alleviate symptoms like nausea, shortness of breath, and anxiety.
Hospice care services are specifically designed to provide comprehensive support for the physical and emotional needs of the resident and their loved ones. In addition to medical care, hospice offers emotional and spiritual support through counseling, bereavement services, and assistance to help navigate complex emotions during this end-of-life journey. The interdisciplinary hospice team and our care team work together to ensure that all aspects of care, comfort, and dignity are met for our residents.
Medicare and most private insurance plans typically cover hospice care. Your coverage options often include nursing care, medications, medical equipment, and support for the family. We suggest you review your specific coverage details and any potential out-of-pocket costs with your insurance provider.
All our communities are pet friendly, allowing residents to bring their small beloved pets for companionship. Speak with the general manager of the community to clarify any limitations.

We relocated our Father from his home in S. CA last year to be near his three children in Marin. We looked at several assisted living facilities and chose Aegis for a number of reasons (location, size, family owned, length of employee tenure, etc.). It exceeded our expectations. He was treated like family with a very high level of care and professionalism. We had 11 months with him at Aegis before he passed in March of this year. Being close to him, both physically and emotionally, during that time is a great comfort to all three of us. Aegis made that possible. They are amazing.

The staff at Aegis Living Moraga are as caring as you can find anywhere. Our Mom lived there for five years and recently passed away. So many of them went above and beyond for her, especially toward the end of her life. They treated Mom as if she were their own parent.

We all appreciated the kindness and attention she received…Her final days there were in hospice, and they were so loving to her, coming in and holding her hand, and supportive of us. I can't imagine a better group of people to work with.

The Cost of Care

We know that providing the best possible care for your loved one is what’s most important, so it’s essential to know what costs to expect. At Aegis Living, our pricing is broken down into two main costs—rent and care—and a one-time community fee.

Apartment Rental

Monthly rent covers the cost of your loved one’s apartment and includes services such as housekeeping, meals, transportation, and utilities.

Care
Services

When it comes to care, we charge based on care points—charging individually for the care services that the resident will receive and paying only for what they need. This structure allows families to remove or add services as their loved ones’ needs change.

Community
Fee

Your one-time community fee contributes to maintaining our beautiful communities for your enjoyment, as well as to preparing for your arrival.

If you’d like to get a quote for pricing, please contact the community you’re interested in. Rent varies based on the apartment you’re interested in and care costs are unique to each prospective resident.
